기관/단체 소개
The Oxford University Korea Society was founded in 1986 by a number of enthusiastic and pioneering students at the time, seeking to encourage lively communication and relations among the Korean population in Oxford. Its aim was also to promote Korea as a nation of both transition and tradition worldwide. Since then, the Society has expanded its capacity with an ever-increasing number of students, visiting Professors and researchers alike, and has hitherto firmly established itself as a representative body of Korean residents in Oxford. In addition, the Society is officially registered under the University of Oxford Proctors Office. Currently, around 300 societies are officially registered under the University and approximately 100 are believed to be fully active. Out of these, the Oxford University Korea Society has been looked upon as an established and exemplary society within the University for its consistent activities over the last 20 years. In this light, the Society serves not only to pursue the interests of its student and resident members, but it also acts as an apt representative of Korea within the University. As a society, we will continually endeavour to build a caring and co-operative environment and do our best to encourage a greater international interest in Korea, particularly after a much successful World Cup 2002. We will also try to ensure active communication and equally warm relations between our members.
