3. Job Position: NGS Laboratory Technician
Psomagen, Inc. is a CLIA-certified lab that provides distinguished quality genomic technology services (NGS, capillary sequencing and bioinformatics) to researchers in academic and clinical settings. We are located in a biomedical community in Rockville, MD (HQ), as well as in Boston, New York and Sterling in VA. Psomagen Inc. has highly trained experts in cutting-edge NGS instrument systems such as the Illumina’s NovaSeq 6000 and other related instruments.
Job description:
1) Operating a computer-based laboratory system, recording data, and performing laboratory tests.
2) DNA/RNA isolation from various sources ( fecal, blood, saliva, tissue and etc.) and QC
3 ) NGS library preparation using SOP ( DNA / RNA library prep )
4) Operating NGS instruments
5) Monitoring equipment performance and maintenance schedules. May perform routine repair or replacement of standard parts.
5) Monitoring inventory levels and ordering materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
6) Maintain and dispose of lab samples, including bio-hazardous samples
7 ) Maintain records and clean laboratory environment to comply with regulatory requirements (CLIA/ CAP and ISO)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree required. Biology majors are preferred.
Compensation:
Salary will be discussed during the interview. Benefits include free health and dental insurance, paid vacations and a yearly allowance.
Work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with possible overtime shifts required.
