본 리뷰는 종양이 원발 부위에서 다른 부위로 전이되는데 종자가 되는 순환종양세포 (circulating tumor cells)에 관해 논의하고 있다. 특히, 본 논문에서는 환자 혈액으로 부터 암세포를 분리하여 임상적 치료를 향상 시킬 수 있는 방법과 연구에 초점을 맞추어 논의하고 조기 진단을 통해 암환자의 삶을 향상 시킬 수 있는 방법에 대해 모색하고 있다. 더불어 순환종양세포에 대한 우리의 이해를 돕고자 한다.
