MARC conference는 미국 원자력학회가 주관하여 1987년에 첫 학회를 개최한 후 1991년 부터 3년에 1회 개최되는 학회이며 올 해 10번째 학회를 개최할 예정이다. 본 학회의 초창기에는 주로 방사능분석에 촛점을 맞추었으나 최근에는 환경 중에서 핵종의 거동에 대한 연구도 다수 발표되고 있다. 최근들어 후쿠시마 원전 사고 이후 방사능분석과 핵종의 화학적 특성 평가에 관심이 고조되면서 본 학회에서 2012년 부터 후쿠시마와 관련한 세션이 개설되었다. 학회에 발표되는 논문들은 review를 거쳐 Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry에 실린다.

MARC 학회는 방사능분석과 관련한 매우 큰 학회이며, 방사능분석 뿐만 아니라 방사성 핵종의 화학적 거동 특성과 관련한 다양한 연구결과들이 발표될 예정입니다. 후쿠시마/체르노빌 등을 포함하는 환경 방사능 측정 분야, 환경에서 핵종의 화학종 형성, 핵종의 이동 및 지연 특성, 그리고, 방사능분석의 응용 분야에 대한 관련 기술과 연구동향에 대하여 작성할 예정입니다.
