International Conference on Magnetism 은 International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) 의 주관하에 3년마다 열리며, 자성분야에서는 세계 최대이자 가장 유명한 학회로, 1958년 프랑스에서 시작되었습니다. 그 이후로 Warsaw (1994), Cairns (1997), Recife (2000), Rome (2003), Kyoto (2006), Karlsruhe (2009) 를 거쳐 직전 2012년에는 부산에서 성황리에 개최되었으며, 올해에는 스페인 Barcelona 에서 20번째로 열리게 되었습니다. 이번 학회에서 다루는 연구 분야는 아래의 5개의 Topic 으로 구성되어 있으며, 다양한 Topic에 걸맞게 2000여 개의 발표가 진행될 예정으로, 많은 참석자들을 통해 활발한 교류가 가능할 것으로 예상되고 있습니다.

본인은 현재 독일에서 고체 물리학, 특히 물질에 자기적 특성에 관해 연구하고 있으며, 이와 관련하여 ICM 2015 에 참석하여 본인의 연구 결과를 발표할 예정으로, 본인의 주 관심사인 Multiferroic 물질의 자기적 특성과 highly frustrate magnetism 및 기타 다양한 분야의 흥미로운 결과를 소개하고자 합니다.
