microRNAs (miRs)는 small non-protein-coding RNAs로 많은 유전자의 전사 후 조절에 관여하며 다면 발현성 효과를 나타낸다. 조직과 체순환에서 miRs의 비정상적 조절은 다양한 병적 그리고 재생조건에 영향을 미친다. 이러한 이유로 심장 그리고 골격근의 조직공학은 복잡한 miR-기반 회로와 신호활용에 주목하고 있다. 본 논문은 항상성 조건과 문제발생 조건 내 miR-유래 심장 그리고 골격근의 조절에 관해 설명하고 가로무늬근 재생의학에 exosomal miRs와 순환 miRs를 새로운 paracrine 조절자로 활용 할 수 있는 방안에 대해 논하고 있다.
