In this perspective, we focus on nonequilibrium gas separation relying on the difference in diffusion behavior of gases and summarize recent studies in conducting this kind of gas separation using metal?organic frameworks (MOFs). We also highlight general strategies toward MOFs suitable for this application and possible directions to improve the performance of MOF-based nonequilibrium gas separation.
