분석기술의 발달에 따라 수중에 미량으로 존재하는 유해한 오염물질의 분석이 가능해지면서 항생제, 의약물질, 개인위생품, 호르몬 등의 물질이 새로운 오염물질(emerging contaminants; ECs)로 주목을 받고 있다. 본 논문은 하수처리과정에서 검출되는 60개의 ECs에 대해 지역적으로 분석을 하여 비교/평가를 하였다. 또한 하수처리과정에서 ECs가 어떤 방법으로 처리되는지에 대해서도 검토를 하였고, 이들의 시료채취와 모니터링 방법에 대해서도 검토하여 관련 분야의 연구자들에게 도움이 될 것으로 사료된다.
