electric utility and other high-power applications of supercpnducting
materials in Japan Germany, and to a limited extent other contries in Westren
Europe.WTRC will Published a companion volume shortly covering electron-
-ic applications of superconductivity in Japan. Tnis report conpares acti-
-vities abroad with those in the United States, ane includes a brief overview
of the U.S. Fepartment of Energy's progam in this area.The focus of the study
is on high temperature superconductors., although the WTECpanel also looked at
applications for low temperature materials. tnw report covers government
funding dor power applications of superconductortivertyamd compares the
roles of public organizations, industry, amd academia in this field among the
countries of interest.
