The Baltimore Longitudinal Study of Aging(BLSA), as it passes its 35th birthday,
is growing and changing. What began as a study with a few men in the late 1950s now
has more than 1,100 active paricipants, both men and women, and continues to expand.
Since the BLSA's inception, scientists using its data have published more than 600
reports and articles in the biomedical literature. Their findings have helped change
aging research, clinical practice, and the way we view aging.
