Since its creation in 1950, the Naitonal Scince Foundation-often referred to simply as NSF-has been the federal government's primary source of funds for research and education in all fields of science, mathematics, and engineering, NSF is a leader in helping shape this country's investiment in the future by awarding grants competitively to researchers in collegies and universities. In addition to the grants it awards. NSF supports activities such as NSTW to help infuse people of all ages with the joy of discovery, exploration, observation, and analytical thinking by nurturing their appreciation of the importance of science and technolgy in everyday living.
