This Report demonstrates the ongoing stength and vitality of the british antarctic survey. It affirms the extraordinary range of science topics covered, an aspect unique to the British Antactic Survey within the family of institutes of the Natural Environment Research council. It reveals the importance of an interdisciplinary approach and the benefits of antional and international collaboration. A major exercise this year has been the development and review of the science plan for the period 2000-2005. The aim is to maximize the scientific impacts of the programme and devlop innovative projects.
