This document reports findings from the workshop on the integral role of two-year colleges in the science and mathematics preparation of prospective teachers. This was a joint effor of the National Science FOundation and the Virginia Urban Corridor Collaborative for Excellence in Teacher Preparation. The workshop was developed with leadership from the Division of Undergraduate Education and significant support from other divisions of the Directorate for Education and Human Resources. The American Association of Community Colleges and Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges, ensured that representatives from all groups who are stakeholders in the preparation of teachers were afforded opportunities to address issues.
