This booklet summarises the OECD's work of direct relevance to your discussions. It also contains an annotated agenda which is intended to focus and guide debate at the Ministerial meeting. Some of the key questions at the centre of your discussions will be: How can we make better use of market-based instruments in order to realise both economic and environmental objectives? What policies can help our economies seize the productivity benefits of new technologies? What will it take on the part of OECD countries to launch a new WTO round? The session with non-members will be particularly important for rebuilding confidence in the multilateral trading system.
The Annual Report of the Organisation for 2001, a copy of which you have also received, provides additional background on work being done at OECD on behalf of Member governments.
