Nanoelectronics is the field of computation and control in the nanometer scale regime using the electronic properties of materials. Useful logical computation or storage of information may be achieved by a number of different concepts and devices. Logical circuits may be used for computation, communication, control systems or storage of information. This article reviews the major nanoelectronic devices, fabrication techniques and architectures. The devices include silicon transistors, single electron transistors, resonant tunneling diodes, magnetic spin devices and molecular devices.
