The Center for Low Power Electronics (CLPE) is a collaborative effort of Arizona State University (ASU) and the University of Arizona (UA) to address fundamental, industry-relevant research problems in the design of ultra-low power portable computing and communication systems. The CLPE was formed under the State / Industry / University Cooperative Research (SIUCRC) initiative. The mission of the Center is to establish a high quality, industry-relevant, multidisciplinary research program in low-power electronic systems, and to produce a cadre of graduates with a broad knowledge base and industrial experience so as to foster Arizona's economic development and help sustain the nation's leading role in this emerging technology. The Center aims to achieve this mission by:  sponsoring basic and applied research toward the development of the next generation ultra-low power electronic systems for mobile and portable applications,  establishing well-defined mechanisms for timely technology transfer that include research results, exchange of scientific personnel between the universities and the industries, and summer internships for students at participating companies, and,  having an Industrial Advisory Board, consisting of members from the participating companies, who advise the Center on current and projected industry needs and actively monitor and participated in the research.
