RESEARCH INTERESTS

Our research program focuses on understanding how to control the interactions of light and matter, and use this understanding to design and synthesize molecules and materials for applications in advanced coloration technologies. Currently, functional materials under study include chromophore-containing polyurethane block copolymers and functional colorants such as photochromic dyes, fluorescent dyes, antimicrobial dyes, hair dyes and azo dye based chemosensors. ?

We also explore the design, synthesis and characterization of both monomers and macromolecules, in order to generate biomass-based polyurethanes and new functional chitosan derivatives. Particularly, nowvel porous materials containing chitosan and porphyrin motifs are studied to apply them to the field of CCS which refers to methods/technologies that in to decrease atmospheric CO2 emissions from anthropogenic point sources such as fossil fuel-fired power plants and various large, medium and small sccale industrial units such as steel plants, cement plants, and brick kilns. The other themes of our researches include organic/inoragnic hybridized nanocomposites flame retardants, textile dyeings, hair colorations, and color physics for quality control.

We collaborate with theoretical, physical, and analytical chemists, optical scientists, and biologists providing researchers a multidisciplinary training.
