In G.N.L, we study Caenorhabditis elegans as a genetic model system. C. elegans is a free-living soil nematode and is an excellent model animal to study developmental genetics and neurobiology. Our research goal is to understand genetic pathways that control neuro-muscular development and behaviors of C. elegans. In particular, calcium signaling and calcium-binding proteins are the main targets of our molecular genetic analyses. GNL has been opened since March 1, 1996 and is the 3rd oldest lab in the Department of Life Science.
