μNOEL, the name of our research group, stands for Micro and Nano Opto Electronics Laboratory. We pursue research on photons, electrons and the interactions between them in artificial micro- and nano-meter scale photonic structures, such as quantum wells, quantum dots, microcavities and photonic crystals. Micro- and nano-structures could provide many scientifically interesting situations. In some circumstances, physical properties of electrons and photons as well as their interactions can be manipulated in a unique fashion that would not be possible in a naturally organized structure. Therefore, our research plot is to provide such special circumstances to electrons and photons via micro- and nano- fabrication techniques and to study their behaviors. We are interested not only in studying physics of photons and electrons, but also interested in the applications of newly developed concepts to the future optoelectronic devices.
