The SEismic Engineering and structural Dynamics (SEED) Lab has started after Prof. Sang-Whan Han joined Hanyang University as a faculty member in 1997. Since 1997, this lab has been transferring knowledge of structural engineering and earthquake engineering to young students and structural engineers. The focusing area of this Lab is developing structural design methods and design procedures against dynamic loads such as earthquakes, winds, and impacts. Various projects related to the performance evaluation of existing structures have been conducted. Moreover this lab has the key technologies to construct seismic map as well as to generate ground motions at any location in the Korean peninsula. Furthermore, this lab have developed approximate methods for evaluating seismic demands of complex MDOF systems under severe earthquakes. Through this lab, 50 students received Master and Ph.D degrees. Most of graduates have been working for construction companies and structural design companies. Currently, the number of graduate students enrolled in this lab is 12.
