In organisms that grow under extremely unusual environments, cellular macromolecules efficiently adapt to the environment, so that all the machinery for the maintenance of the cell cycle function normally. We will study the mechanisms by which macromolecules adapt to unusual environments and thereby create biomolecules with novel functions for industrial purposes.
