Research in Earth and Space Science at York University is conducted within the Centre For Research in Earth and Space Science (CRESS), which is an organized research unit of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. CRESS was established in 1965 as the first such unit at this University. One of the major responsibilities of CRESS is to support the research work of graduate students enrolled in the Graduate Program in Earth and Space Science (ESS), which is a Program within the Faculty of Graduate Studies. PhDs graduated in 1967 from this program were among the earliest at York. CRESS faculty members are the same as those in the Graduate Program, and are drawn primarily from the Departments of Earth and Space Science and Engineering, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mathematics and Statistics.
