The Knowledge and Language Engineering Laboratory (KLE) at Pohang University of Science and Technology has been involved in various aspects of natural language processing and computational linguistics since 1991, with special emphasis on computer processing of the Korean language.
KLE's research efforts are concentrated on three major areas. First is the core technology of Korean language processing, which is fundamental to the development of computer systems that recognize, understand, and generate the Korean language. Machine Translation (MT) between Korean and other foreign Asian languages like Japanese, Chinese, and English is of our second concern. Our last concerned area is Information Retrieval (IR), especially related to web-based applications.
