The primary researh focus of the lab is viral infectious diseases of livestock. The laboratory studies the pathogenesis and immunobiology toward prevention and control of economically significant viral infections in production animals such as pigs and cattle. Development of diagnostics and new diagnostic technology or platform is another main activity as it is affiliated with the Iowa State University's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory which is a world-class animal disease diagnostic labratory particularly for swine and bovine species.
