Our research group is interested in the development of highly selective and efficient catalysts that mediate fundamentally interesting and useful organic reactions. On the basis of the lessons from natural systems we apply this information to designing catalyst structures and finding new reactions. We creatively adopt the concept of natural systems, but not simply mimic their function. A major focus of our research is the invention of catalysts and reactions, which is inspired by natural systems but shows new chemistry that nature has never achieved.
