The long term research goal of my laboratory is to decipher molecular mechanisms of two closely-related processes, 1) metastasis, i.e., the spread of cancer to distant organs and 2) self-seeding, i.e., the return of circulating tumors cells to the origin of tumor. Specifically, we are interested in epigenetic mechanisms that control the expression of genes used in afore-mentioned processes.
In order to investigate these processes, we are using various approaches including cell culture-based studies, mouse xenograft model of diseases as well as genome-wide screening.
Our goal is not only to dissect the molecular mechanisms of cancer progression but ultimately to translate the insights obtained in basic research into clinical treatment of cancers.
