나노 열전달 연구실

Recent advances in nanotechnology enables the development of more compact devices for a variety of scientific and engineering applications at micro/nanoscale. In such compact systems, the heat transfer processes and mechanisms can be totally different from those in macroscale. Heat transfer within matters is often quantified with thermophysical properties, such as thermal conductivity and specific heat. These thermophysical properties largely depend on the transport physics of each basic energy carriers, such as phonon, photon and electron, as well as their interactions in the system. Therefore, understanding the fundamental transport physics of basic energy carriers and their interactions is crucial for developing a new type of energy conversion device as well as a novel thermal energy storage system. With the aims of contributing to the energy-related technology, the goal of Nanoscale Heat Transfer Laboratory is to conduct the ‘Application-Driven Fundamental Research’ on the thermal energy transport at the nanometer scale. Our Lab logo signifies the aforementioned goal.
