CARE(Computer Aided Reliability Evaluation) Laboratory has established in 1988 when Professor Soon-Bok Lee joined the faculty of mechanical engineering, KAIST(Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), and CARE became authorized National Reliability Laboratory in 2001. CARE produced many masters and excellent Ph.D.s who are now leading engineers and researchers in various industries, institutes and government. The focus of research activities in CARE is to save human life by enhancing reliability in human interacting structures such as transportation and communication and energy generation.
CARE performs various reliability testing of materials for automobile engine, large scale marine engine, nuclear power plants and space applications and electronics packaging. Mechanical properties including cyclic and deformation behavior of structural materials are tested using 50 ton, 25 ton, 10 ton and 5 ton MTS(Material Testing System) from -50℃ to 800℃ and formulated to produce proper constitutive relations for FEA(Finite Element Analysis).
