Research Overview
The research focus of our group centers on design of novel nanocrystals and nanowires and their use in optoelectronic, sensing, and thermal management applications. We are particularly interested in looking into physical chemistry that transpires at nanometer length scale. Scopes of our research interests include (i) design of heterostructure nanocrystals, (ii) transport phenomena at nanoscale, and (iii) nanomaterial assembly.

(1) Design of heterostructure nanocrystals

-Efficient charge separation (for photovoltaics and photocatalysis)
-Nanoscale chemical energy storage devices (e.g., single-nanowire battery)
-All-inorganic composite nanomaterials with functionality and robustness

(2) Transport phenomena at nanoscale

-Thermoelectric materials
-Exciton transfer between nanomaterials
-Mass transfer (diffusion) in nanoscale
-Membranes

(3) Nanomaterial assembly

-Design of smart nanomaterials
-Dynamic self-assembly of nanoparticles

(4)Quantum dot LED

-Emission from quantum dots
-High-efficiency, multilayer quantum dot devices
