Welcome to Integrated Marine Physical and Coastal Ocean Observing Laboratory (IMCOOL)
IMCOOL focuses on studies of coastal ocean processes and environmental engineering, climate impacts on coastal environments based on observations, and the instrument design and development. Primary topics are oceanic mesoscale [O(100 to 10000) km] and sub-mesoscale [O(1 to 100) km] processes including eddies, fonts, and filaments and relevant circulation, ocean surface and internal waves, and climate changes (left figure below). As the infrastructure of those studies, a prototype Coastal Ocean Observing System off the South Korea coast is developing (right figure below). Here is a short overview on IMCOOL.
