Underwater Explosion Research Lab (UERL) was founded in 2009 by Professor Shin, Young Sik. It is the only laboratory which research underwater explosion(UNDEX) in KAIST.
These days, with the growing terrorist activities throughout the world, many countries started to build high speed ship system with maximum speed of 40 knots or even higher. The types of hull configuration include mono-hull. catamaran and trimaran. Multihull ship system has advantages over other hull type ship that it has large deck areas, excellent transverse stability, better seakeeping and reducing wave making resistance.
Main research concern of UERL is behavior of High Speed Craft (HSC) in UNDEX environment. UERL has several water tanks for test, and computer softwares for numerical simulation.
