The Hand Rehabilitation Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is dedicated to the study of rehabilitation, biomechanics, and neurophysiological characterization of the hand. We work collaboratively with investigators in diverse backgrounds including engineers, kinesiologists, neuroscientists, therapists, and physicians. The lab’s research goals are:· Understand neurophysiologic and biomechanical mechanisms for deficits in hand function following aging or neurologic disorders such as stroke.· Employ ergonomic design and develop rehabilitative interventions and assistive devices to improve the quality of life for persons with sensorimotor impairment.
