The Department of Maxillofacial Biomedical Engineering is first in histroy of the School of Dentistry established as an interdisciplinary department that consists of faculty, research fellows and students in different research areas of biomedicine and tissue engineering. It is the primary goal of the department to develope and establish a new field of converging dental science through interdisciplinary academic and research collaboration, strengthening the competitiveness of the school. To achieve the goal, the department is committed to fostering globally competitive experts of biomedicine and tissue engineering, organizing the members' expertise into cooperative interdisciplinary system, and thus developing coverging technologies for anatomical and functional regeneration and reconstruction of tissue and organ in the oral and maxillofacial region, which subsequently contribute to improvement of oral and systemic health.
