Who are we?

The Structural Complexity Laboratory is a vibrant international community working in the general area of complex systems. Its core research develops, extends and applies automated methods for learning good solutions to problems, where the answers are expected to be complex structures. It publishes innovative work in the leading conferences and journals in the field.

Estimation of Distribution GP

Learns stochastic grammars to describe the solution spaces for complex problems.

Evolutionary Developmental Evaluation

Combines ideas from evolutionary and developmental biology to give more effective learning algorithms.

Simulation of In-Vitro Evolution

Evolutionary computing leading to better methods for finding active bio-molecules.

Entropy in Genetic Programming

Fundamental studies of Genetic Programming populations from an information-theoretic perspective.
