What is ReC-SDSW ?
Our center is funded by the Korean Ministry of Science and Technology through National Creative Research Initiatives for up to 9 years since the April of 2006, working on spin dynamics and the wave properties of spin waves and its based logic devices.

The ultimate goals of our researches are not only to exploit the wave theory of spin waves and unveil the correlations between the wave parameters of spin waves and the physical parameters of magnetic media, and but also to develop spin wave based logic devices of a new paradigm. Through such research activities, we will make our best efforts toward the search for and germination of a new science and technology which is creative and ingenious, so that researchers working at our center would be one of the world class leaders in this relevant research field.

In Phase 1, we establish a wave theory for the wave behaviors of spin waves, and perform micromagnetic simulations and experimental confirmation. In Phase 2, we find correlations between the wave parameters such as phase and wavelength, and the physical parameters of magnetic media, to manipulate the wave parameters required for their applications to devices. In Phase 3, we construct the circuits of waveguides for traveling spin waves and produce actual logic gates such as NOR, NAND, etc. in order to establish foundational technology of spin-wave logic devices using their wave characteristics.

The overall works of this research project mainly consist of the development of a wave theory of spin waves, micromagnetic simulations, fabrications of variously shaped magnetic thin-film waveguides, and characterization of spin waves using visible light and synchrotron x rays as well as electric transportation means using a scanning probe microscope.
