Our major research interest is the development of functional organometallic or nano systems. Related our research areas are organometallics, transition metal catalysis, self-assembly, nanosynthesis and applications. The projects currently underway in my research group are the following: Self-Assembly of Organometallic Compounds. We can say that organometallic compounds are one of the most useful molecules. For examples, they are being widely used in various catalysis and material science. Our research in supramolecular chemisrty is focused not on metal-organic networks(MONs), but on metal-organometallic networks (MOMNs), in which organometallic compounds serve as spacers or ligands ("organometalloligands") that connect to metal ion "nodes". Our goals are to design and synthesize a series of novel functional organometallic building blocks for organometallic supramolecular systems and ultimately to develop new catalysts, sensors, solid materials, and functional host-guest systems. Chemical Synthesis of Nanomaterials. Our research in nanomaterials involves two related areas: (1) chemical synthesis and self-assembly of nanoparticles; (2) construction and elaboration of functional nanoparticles and their assemblies for applications in catalysis, and information storage or optical devices. The rapid progress in the synthesis of nanoparticles with controllable nanometer-sized features and electronic properties has made it possible to rationally design and synthesize nanoparticle-based catalysts. The surface chemistry, and therefore the catalytic properties, of a nanoparticle can be controlled by tuning the size, composition and shape of the nanoparticle. Our goals are to design and synthesize a series of transition metal based nanoparticles for catalytic applications.
