Research Areas: 1. Regulation of T helper cell differentiation by T-bet : Differentiation of T helper progenitors to Th1 or Th2 effector cells requires the action of the critical transcription factors, T-bet. T-bet reveals triple separable functions for Th1 cell differentiation through the protein modification. The regulation of T-bet expression, and modification can be critical for immune disorders such as asthma, or autoimmune diseases. We studies on functional mechanism of T-bet and its applications in human immune disorders. 2. Regulation of mesenchymal stem cell differentiation by TAZ. : Mesenchymal stem cells are required for the repair of loss of tissues or organs, particularly bone, cartilage, adipose and muscle. TAZ is known to be a critical regulator of mesenchymal stem cell differentiation into osteoblasts and adipocytes. We are interested in novel function and functional mechanism of TAZ and applying TAZ in related diseases like osteoporosis, bone and cartilage loss, obese and muscle atrophy.
