약물전달시스템 기반의 생체재료 및 공정 기술 개발
Biomaterials Processing & Application Lab
The BPAL(Biomaterials Processing & Application Lab) focuses on developing biomaterial-based devices for their various applications in medicine, such as drug delivery, tissue engineering and medical implants.
In this lab, biocompatible/biodegradable materials are processed with novel methods to form nanoparticles, microparticles, fibers, tablets, sponges or scaffolds, depending on their specific purposes in clinical practice.
The lab is especially interested in custom-shaped devices, i.e., the devices structured with precise dimension, geometry or internal porosity, to realize highly accurate, directional and targeted delivery of therapeutic agents, hence further improvement in therapy.
The research interest also includes development of minimally-invasive, implantable devices (e.g., bioabsorbable MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical system) to achieve better patients compliance as well as high efficacy in treatment of diseases.
