Endometriosis is classically defined as the presence of endometrial glands and stroma outside of the endometrial lining and uterine musculature. With an estimated frequency of 5-10 percent among women of reproductive age, endometriosis is a common gynecologic disorder. However, the molecular etiology of endometriosis is not clear, yet. The goal of our laboratory is to identify and investigate how molecular alternations of nuclear receptors and/or steroid receptor coactivators involve in the pathogenesis of women’s reproductive diseases, specifically Endometriosis and Endometriosis-associated diseases. To achieve this goal, we have generated lots of genetic altered mouse models, mouse model of surgically induced endometriosis by auto- or hetero-transplantation of endometrial tissues, various genetic modified immortalized human endometrial epithelial and stromal cell lines and in vivo endometriosis imaging system
