Our laboratory seeks to understand the operation of the human brain. We measure brain function while people behave and think in order to determine how different parts of the brain contribute to our ability to learn, decide, act, and adapt. We also study the impairments of behavior and thought experienced by individuals with brain damage, neuropsychiatric disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases, and we develop new ways to improve brain function in these individuals using neurostimulation. The laboratory is a part of the Department of Medical Social Sciences of the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine , and is affiliated with the Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program. Primary funding is provided by the National Institutes of Health through the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Institute on Aging.
