Our team aims to better understand, unveil and harness some of nature’s most closely kept secrets littered throughout the biological system. By combining all of the diverse specialties of the graduate students in our lab, we approach the problem from all directions. Thus our research consists of several parts, which essentially all tie into one big picture. We are heavily focused on the synthesis of novel small-molecules achieved through pDOS, the discovery of specific small-molecule modulators, novel fluorescent bioprobes, the development of image-based high throughput screening and target identification methods. Through this we are able to address several of the currently unsolved issues in biology and medicine, especially towards the discovery of novel therapeutic agents that target diseases which have developed a resistance to current medicine. Furthermore, this opens the door for the discovery of small-molecules that could be used to treat rare diseases and contribute to the field of regenerative medicine.
