Introduction
Studying under the guidance of professor Sohn Geomatics Remote Sensing and Survey Lab. Basically, we lay the foundation for image processing of satellites that are photographed by Digital Photogrammetry. In addition, we are developing a 3D mapping system that automatically combines GPS and aerial photography. We are also expanding research areas such as Landslide Susceptibility Mapping by comparing GIS-based spatial models. Our laboratory has pursued advanced research criteria for photogrammetry, satellite image processing, GIS, GPS, and remote sensing.
We have the know-how of the aerial photography and high resolution image which is IKONOS, Quickbird image. We obtained good results in a disaster analysis modeling using the SAR and the Mapping using the LiDAR as we accomplished the NGIS project which is ordered by the Ministry of construction and Transportation. In addition, we are conducting research in cooperation with various national organizations such as Ministry of Public Safety and Security, National Emergency Management Agency, and Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs.
We had produced the first master’s degree in 1978 under the guidance of Prof. Yeu Bock-Mo. The alumni are engaged in a related enterprise, academics, government public institutions, and research institute. In 2000, Professor Sohn Hong-Gyoo took over research of Prof. Yeu. With the rapid informationization of the IT age and the growing interest and demand of the Geo-Spatial Information System, we are striving to nurture global experts with specialized knowledge.
