합성 생물학 연구실


Research interests

We are interested in developing disruptive technologies that can be utilized in biotech industry.

We are working with both experimental and computational perspectives as biology has changed from the data-poor discipline to data-rich science (i.e., Big Data).

We are currently (as of 2015-06-18) engaged in research subjects including following ones.
 
  • Next generation sequencing of circulating DNA molecules and cells : Eventually, we like to use our technology for the applications in cancer diagnostics, or in monitoring immune responses.
 
  • Genome engineering and CRISPR/Cas9 systems : Particularly, we are working on genome editing via homologous recombination. We are going to use the  technology for the study in genotype-phenotype relations, and for the therapeutic applications.
 
  • Synthetic genomics : Synthetic genomics is going to change the way we handle genomic DNA materials in the future. The field is already engaged in a harsh competition among several commercial companies. We are focused on developing innovative and disruptive technologies.
 
  • Other projects : We are working on some projects that has no immediate answer to solve. These projects are related to DNA sequencing, DNA writing, single cells and algorithm developments. We are recruiting students, and postdocs to tackle these problems.
