Reactor Physics&its Vision

What is Reactor Physics?

Reactor physics is a research area dealing with various physical
phenomena influencing the neutronic behavior in nuclear reactors,
which would in turn determine the core power. Since the accurate
prediction of the spatial distribution and the temporal change of the
reactor power is instrumental in guaranteeing safe and efficient
reactor operation, reactor physics takes a very important position
among various nuclear engineering fields.

One can predict the neutronic behavior - production due to nuclear
fission or fusion, migration and loss through the medium - through a
precise simulation of nuclear reaction and transport by means of the
computer codes which implement various established analysis
methods.

Comforting people with better utilization of neutrons!

In near future, the development of the new types of nuclear reactors such as innovative light water reactors, fast breeder reactors, very high temperature reactors, and fusion reactors would be more active than ever. Thus, it is highly expected that the nuclear engineers specialized in reactor physics would play a vital role in the research and development of such future reactors which would benefit people with affluent energy.
