Biomaterials for Immuno-Engineering Lab develops biomaterials to tackle problems in immunology and immunotherapy. We develop biomaterial-based approaches to monitor and control immune system to deepen our understanding and to treat immune-related diseases, including cancer, autoimmune diseases, and allergies. In particular, we are interested in cancer immunotherapy, a therapy to treat cancer by harnessing the power of immunity. Biomaterial-based ex vivo models recapitulating tumor-immune microenvironment (TIME) can be useful in understanding fundamental mechanisms underlying cancer immunotherapy. Biomaterial-based delivery system will allow us to deliver various therapeutics to TIME in a spatio-temporally controlled manner to maximize efficacy and minimize toxicity.
