Current Research Interests
Wet chemical synthesis, thermal and microwave preparation, laser-induced fabrication, electrochemical integration, and device build-up method are mainly employed in our Nanostructures Fabrication Laboratory (NFL) to fabricate diversely sized and particularly shaped nanostructures of semiconductors (Al2O3, CdS, CdSe, CuO, InP, SiO2, TiO2, ZnO, ZnS, ZnSe), metals (Ag, Al, Au, Cu, Pt, Ti, Zn), and biomolecules (DNA, peptides). We also prepare composite nanosystems, having controlled functions, of semiconductors/semiconductors, semiconductors/molecules, semiconductors/CNTs, metals/metals, metals/semiconductors and metals/biomolecules. Some of the above fabricated nanostructures are directly employed in our research lab for applications such as optical and electronic devices, surface-plasmon photonics, photocatalysts, photoluminescent displays, dye (or quantum dot)-sensitized solar cells, and inorganic-organic hybrid solar cells. Time-resolved spectroscopic techniques of transient absorption and emission, as well as various static spectroscopic methods such as photoluminescence and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), are mainly employed to characterize nanostructured materials although other methods such as AFM, EDX, FESEM, TEM, HRTEM, HRXRD, XPS, electrophoresis, and electron diffraction are also used routinely.
