In this brand-new research laboraotry, we explore a broad range of light-matter interactions particularly in micron and sub-micron (or sub-wavelength) scales both theoretically and experimentally. In such the tiny spaces, ultrahigh interaction efficiencies and/or strongly altered properties of light and matter may yield many new interesting physical phenomena. We focus primarily on, but not limited to, nonlinear and quantum optical effects at the moment. Our research activities cover deep understanding of novel physical phenomena as well as their practical applications to new types of light sources and optical devices.
