RESEARCH
I am a theorist with a broad range of interests in condensed matter physics.
My main interests are phenomena beyond the Landau paradigms of condensed matter physics. The paradigms may be characterized by the two points,
1) quasi-particle description of electron/spin excitations
2) conventional symmetry breaking phase transitions.
Most of weakly interacting systems are understood by the paradigms.
Strongly correlated quantum materials host a variety of intriguing phenomena beyond the paradigms such as high-temperature superconductivity, quantum spin liquids, and non-Fermi liquids. They call for novel understanding and description of condensed matter systems including deconfinement, fractionalization, topological invariants, and higher-form symmetries on which I am working with my colleagues.
I am also interested in formal aspects of quantum field theories/statistical mechanics and their applications to strongly correlated quantum materials.
