Material and Design Engineering covers fundamental research areas of design methodology and material science including product reliability, optimal design, automatic design, CAD/CAM/CAE/CAT, structural strength and composites. Faculty and student research ranges from the purely scientific to applied studies and involves perspectives of mechanics, physics, computer sciences, and historical aspects of materials, design, and entrepreneurial ventures. Our vision is to be a dynamic department, with cohesive and exciting academic programs that define continuously the future of the materials and design engineering with faculty and students who exercise leadership in education and research and have significant impact in solving social needs for the betterment of the world at large.
