Applied Heat Transfer Laboratory
This laboratory numerically studies the internal and external flow phenomena and the accompanied heat transfer phenomena. Various industrial heat and fluid flow problems such as the heat transfer in electronic devices, the boiling heat transfer in a hot rolling process, the wavy film flow heat transfer in traditional cell-and-tube heat exchangers, the flow in a vacuum pump for automobile, the plume dispersion from industrial power plants or ship stacks are being studied. The high performance computing facility with 160 cores is equipped. The in-house computational fluid dynamic code is being developed by using the SIMPLE-based finite volume method and the immersed body method.
